Junk Removal in Westminster, CA: Costs & Local Guide
Most junk jobs we run in Westminster land between $75 and $700. A single item like a couch or a fridge usually runs $75 to $175. A packed garage or a full estate clean-out sits at the top of that range. We give you the price before we lift anything, and the number we quote is the number you pay. No surprise “stairs fee,” no fuel add-on at the end. We’re a family shop — My brother Eric and I started EA Junk Removal here in Orange County back in 2018, and we still run every job the way we’d want ours run. That’s the whole reason we put our prices out in the open. You should know what you’re paying before a truck ever pulls up.
How much does junk removal cost in Westminster?
Pricing comes down to volume — how much space your stuff takes up in the truck. That’s it. We don’t charge by the item or nickel-and-dime you per piece. Here’s the published range we work from. You can see the full breakdown on our Orange County price index.
| Load size | What it usually covers | Price range |
|---|---|---|
| Single item | One couch, mattress, fridge, or a small pile | $75–$175 |
| Quarter truck | A closet purge, a few pieces of furniture | $200–$300 |
| Half truck | A one-car garage, a small apartment | $300–$450 |
| Full truck | A packed garage, a full estate or move-out | $500–$700 |
A few things move the number inside those ranges. Really heavy loads like concrete, dirt, or a garage full of old tile weigh a lot for the space they take, so those price a little differently. Long carries matter too — if the pile is at the back of a second-floor unit instead of the driveway, that’s more work than a curbside grab. And a handful of items we can’t put in a regular landfill load, like paint, motor oil, and car batteries, need special handling. We’ll tell you all of that up front. We quote on-site once we see the pile, or over a photo if you text one. Either way you get a flat number. If the job’s smaller than it looked, the price drops. We don’t play games with it.
Does Westminster pick up bulky items for free?
For a lot of Westminster homes, yes — and you should use it when it fits. Most of the city’s residential trash is handled by the Midway City Sanitary District, which runs a bulky-item program that picks up a small number of large items per household on a roughly monthly cycle. Think a couch, a mattress, an old dresser. You schedule it ahead by calling them at (714) 893-3553, and you set the items out on your assigned day.
Here’s the honest part. The city program is great for one or two things you can plan around. It falls short when you’ve got a whole garage, a hoarder-level clean-out, an appliance that has to come down a flight of stairs, or a deadline you can’t move. There are item caps, you wait for the scheduled day, and you haul everything to the curb yourself. If you can’t lift it, or it can’t sit at the curb for days because of your street or your HOA, the free program stops being the easy option. That’s when people call us.
Which Westminster neighborhoods do we work in most?
We cover all of Westminster, but a few areas send us more calls than others. The patterns below are what we tend to see — every house is different.
- Little Saigon and the central corridor. Lots of multi-generational homes and small businesses near Bolsa and Brookhurst. We get a steady mix of storefront clean-outs, restaurant equipment, and family garage purges here.
- Older tract neighborhoods off Westminster Blvd and Beach. Many of these homes have been lived in for decades. When a property turns over or a parent downsizes, the garage and back rooms have usually built up for years. Those are our bigger loads.
- The newer townhome and condo pockets. Tight access, shared driveways, and HOA rules on what can sit at the curb and for how long. We’re used to carrying items out from a back unit so nothing sits in the common area.
- Rental-heavy blocks near the Garden Grove and Huntington Beach lines. Turnover means move-out debris, left-behind furniture, and the occasional full apartment. We clear those fast so the unit can re-list.
Wherever you are in the city, the job is the same to us: show up on time, protect your floors and doorframes, and leave the space clean.
Where can you donate or drop off junk in Westminster yourself?
If your stuff still has life in it, donating beats the landfill. Two solid local options:
- Goodwill of Orange County, 6741 Westminster Blvd. They take gently used furniture and household goods at the donation door behind the store. Note that mattresses go to their Santa Ana campus, not this location. Check current hours on the Goodwill locator before you load up.
- Habitat for Humanity of Orange County ReStore. A good home for furniture, working appliances, cabinets, and building materials. They’ll confirm whether an item’s a fit — details on the Habitat OC donation page. Larger items may qualify for pickup.
When we haul for you, we sort the donatable stuff out ourselves and run it to a charity when we can. Same with metal and cardboard, which we recycle rather than dump. You don’t have to load a thing or make a second trip.
What’s the nearest landfill if you want to self-haul?
Westminster sits in north-central Orange County, so the closest county facility that takes household self-haul loads is the Olinda Alpha Landfill at 1942 N. Valencia Ave. in Brea. It’s open to OC residents Monday through Saturday, roughly 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. You’ll pay a dump fee by weight and you need a truck or trailer, a way to tie the load down, and the muscle to unload it yourself. The Bowerman landfill in Irvine is closer on a map but it’s commercial-only, so it won’t take your pickup load.
Self-haul makes sense for a light run you can lift alone. Once you factor the dump fee, the gas, the tie-downs, and your Saturday, a single-item pickup from us often costs about the same and you never touch it. And if the load includes anything the landfill won’t accept, you’re making a second stop somewhere else. We handle that sorting for you.
When does it make sense to call us instead of the city?
Use the Midway City bulky program when you’ve got one or two items and no rush. Call us when any of this is true:
- You’ve got more than the city’s item limit, or a full garage clean-out.
- The item’s heavy or awkward — a sleeper sofa, a treadmill, a fridge that has to come down stairs. That’s our furniture removal and appliance removal work.
- You’re on a deadline — a move-out, a sale, a tenant turnover — and can’t wait for the next scheduled city day.
- You don’t want to drag anything to the curb. We carry it out from wherever it sits.
We do the lifting, the loading, and the disposal. You point, we clear. There’s no wrong choice here — if the free city pickup covers your job, use it. When it doesn’t, we’re a call away.
