How much does junk removal cost in Los Alamitos?

In Los Alamitos, most jobs fall between $75 and $700, and the price is set by how much space your stuff takes in our truck, not by weight or by the hour. A single item like a mattress or an old sofa is $75 to $175. A quarter load runs $200 to $300. A half load is $300 to $450, and a full truck is $500 to $700. Eric and I lock in a flat quote before we lift anything, so the number you hear is the number you pay. The full breakdown is on our Orange County price index.

We are EA Junk Removal, a family-owned crew serving north and central OC since 2018. Los Alamitos sits right off the 605 and the 22, close to home for us, so we get there fast and keep it painless.

Here is how the load sizes lay out, so you can eyeball where your pile lands before you call.

Load size Price range What usually fits
Single item $75 to $175 One mattress, one couch, or a single appliance
Quarter truck $200 to $300 A small room, a few furniture pieces, some boxes
Half truck $300 to $450 A one-car garage or a couple of furnished rooms
Full truck $500 to $700 A packed two-car garage or a full apartment

These are the same published ranges we quote all over Orange County. Your final price rides on the actual volume once we see it, but the photos you text get us close before we arrive.

Does Los Alamitos pick up bulky items for free?

Yes, and the program here is a solid one. Los Alamitos switched its hauler to Universal Waste Systems, or UWS, back in January 2022. Residential and multi-family customers get four free bulky-item pickups per year, with up to four items each time. After you use your fourth free pickup, additional ones run about $45 apiece, so confirm your remaining count and the current fee with UWS before you book. Large items are generally collected on Thursdays, so do not set anything on the parkway until the evening before your scheduled pickup.

To schedule, call UWS customer service at (562) 941-4900, or email customerservice@uwscompany.com. You can read the city’s rules on the Los Alamitos trash collection page.

So when is the free program enough? It works when you have a handful of items, they fit the four-per-pickup rule, and you can wait for Thursday. It runs out when you have a full garage, a move-out, heavy debris, or you have already burned through your four pickups. UWS also will not go inside, carry things down stairs, or take construction leftovers. That is where we come in.

Which Los Alamitos neighborhoods do we work in most?

Los Alamitos is a small city, so we cover all of it, but a few areas keep us busy.

  • College Park, on the east side. Established family homes with real garages, and when folks downsize we tend to pull a full garage or a whole-room load.
  • The neighborhoods around Los Alamitos Boulevard and Katella Avenue. A mix of homes and apartments near the shops, which means steady move-out and single-item pickups.
  • The blocks near the Joint Forces Training Base. Military moves happen on a schedule, so we see a lot of quick furniture and mattress hauls when families rotate out.
  • Rossmoor, just next door. It is an unincorporated pocket, not part of the city, so it has its own hauler and rules, but we work it constantly and it is worth knowing your service differs from Los Alamitos proper.

That is not ranking any street. It is just the pattern we see after years on these routes. Every load has its own story.

What do we haul most often in Los Alamitos?

Furniture is number one, so furniture removal stays busy with couches, sectionals, and mattresses. Garages come next, which keeps garage cleanouts going year-round. And dead washers, dryers, and fridges show up often in these older homes, so appliance removal fills out the list. For the local rundown, see our Los Alamitos service page.

Where can you donate or drop off junk in Los Alamitos yourself?

We donate whatever still has life left before anything hits a landfill, and you can too. A couple of spots near Los Alamitos take good used goods:

  • Goodwill of Orange County in Cypress, at 6006 Lincoln Ave, Cypress, CA 90630, a short drive from Los Alamitos. It has a drive-thru donation lane, so you roll up and an attendant unloads the car. Phone is (714) 503-6822, and hours are on the Goodwill OC donation page.
  • Habitat for Humanity OC ReStore in Anaheim, at 1656 West Katella, Anaheim. They take furniture, appliances, and home goods, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For a bigger drop or a pickup, call their donation hotline at 714-434-6202 or see the Habitat OC donation page.

One thing we have learned: call ahead on big pieces. Both places pass on items that are torn, stained, or broken, and a wasted trip stings. When we haul for you, we sort the donatable stuff and drop it off ourselves, so you never load it twice.

What is the nearest landfill if you want to self-haul?

If you would rather rent a truck and dump it yourself, your nearest public landfill from Los Alamitos is Olinda Alpha in Brea, at 1942 N Valencia Ave, Brea, CA 92823. It is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Self-haul fees are low, usually around $5 for a carload and roughly $20 for a pickup-truck load, but rates change, so confirm the current fee on the OC Waste and Recycling page before you drive up.

Keep in mind the other major OC site, Frank R. Bowerman Landfill in Irvine, is commercial-only and does not take walk-in residential loads, so do not haul household junk there. Olinda Alpha is the public one. It also does not accept hazardous waste, so paint, batteries, and chemicals need a separate household hazardous-waste drop.

Honest math: Los Alamitos is a fair drive from Brea, and once you total the truck rental, the gate fee, the gas, and lifting everything twice, a self-haul day often costs more than a quarter-truck job with us, and it burns your whole Saturday. For one or two items it can pencil out. For a real load, it rarely does.

When should you call us instead of the city?

Use the free UWS program when you have a few items, they fit the four-per-pickup rule, and you can wait until Thursday. Call us when any of this is true:

  • You have already used your four free pickups for the year.
  • You need it gone this week, not on the next collection day.
  • It is inside, upstairs, or in the backyard and has to be carried out.
  • It is a whole garage, a move-out, or a mix of furniture and appliances you do not want to sort.

We do the heavy lifting, we sweep up the spot, and you just point. That is the difference.
