Junk Removal in Laguna Niguel, CA: Cost & Guide

Alex Alquisira · · 6 min read

Most junk jobs we run in Laguna Niguel land between $75 and $700. A single item like a sofa or an old washer usually runs $75 to $175. A packed garage or a full estate clean-out sits at the top of that range. We give you the price before we lift anything, and the number we quote is the number you pay. No stair fee sprung on you at the end, no fuel add-on. We’re a family shop — My brother Eric and I started EA Junk Removal in Orange County in 2018, and we still run every job the way we’d want ours run. A lot of Laguna Niguel is hillside and gated, so we’re used to guard gates, tight drives, and HOA rules. None of that changes the deal: you get the price first.

How much does junk removal cost in Laguna Niguel?

Price comes down to volume — how much space your stuff takes up in the truck. We don’t charge per item and we don’t pad the quote. Here’s the published range we work from. The full breakdown is on our Orange County price index.

Load size What it usually covers Price range
Single item One couch, mattress, washer, or a small pile $75–$175
Quarter truck A closet purge, a few pieces of furniture $200–$300
Half truck A one-car garage, a small condo $300–$450
Full truck A packed garage, a full estate or move-out $500–$700

A few things move the number inside those ranges. Heavy material like concrete, dirt, or old tile weighs a lot for the space it takes, so it prices a little differently than light household clutter. Access matters too — a long carry down a hillside lot or out of an upstairs condo is more work than a driveway grab. And a short list of items, like paint, motor oil, and car batteries, can’t ride in a normal landfill load and need special handling. We flag all of it when we quote. We give you a flat number on-site, or over a photo if you text one. If it’s smaller than it looked, the price drops. No games.

Does Laguna Niguel pick up bulky items for free?

Yes, within limits. Laguna Niguel’s exclusive trash hauler is CR&R Environmental Services, and every residential customer gets two free bulky-item pickups per calendar year. A bulky item is anything that won’t fit in your automated cart — a sofa, a mattress, a fridge, a water heater. You schedule ahead by calling CR&R at (877) 728-0446. Extra pickups beyond the two free ones can be arranged for a charge.

Two free pickups a year is a fair deal for the occasional item. It gets tight fast, though. If you’re clearing a whole garage, emptying an estate, doing a remodel tear-out, or you’ve already burned both pickups, the city program can’t cover it. You also haul everything to the curb yourself and wait for the scheduled day. Behind a guard gate, a pile can’t always sit out that long, and if you can’t move a heavy item to the curb in the first place, the free service doesn’t help. That’s when folks call us.

Which Laguna Niguel neighborhoods do we work in most?

We cover all of Laguna Niguel. A few areas send more calls, and each has its own quirks — these are patterns we tend to see, not hard rules.

  • Gated and HOA hillside communities. Much of Laguna Niguel is hillside and gated. That means guard-gate check-in, narrow shared drives, and HOA rules about what can sit outside and for how long. We’re used to it — we carry items straight out so nothing sits in a common area.
  • Marina Hills. Established family homes with real storage. When someone downsizes or a home turns over, garages and back bedrooms that filled up over years come out at once. These are usually our bigger loads.
  • Bear Brand and the Ocean Ranch side. A mix of newer builds and remodels near the shopping and coast. Renovation debris and furniture swaps are the usual calls.
  • Condo and townhome pockets across the city. Tight access and upper-floor units. We handle the stairs and the long carry so you don’t have to drag anything to the truck.

Wherever you are, the job runs the same: on time, floors and doorframes protected, and the space left clean when we pull out.

Where can you donate or drop off junk in Laguna Niguel yourself?

If your stuff still has life in it, donating beats the landfill. Two solid options for the Laguna Niguel area:

  • Goodwill of Orange County on La Paz Road. A local donation spot right in town for gently used furniture, home goods, and electronics. Hours change, so confirm on the Goodwill locator before you drive over.
  • Habitat for Humanity of Orange County ReStore. A good home for furniture, working appliances, cabinets, and building materials — useful if you’re mid-remodel. Email them a photo to confirm an item’s a fit; details on the Habitat OC donation page. Larger items may qualify for pickup.

When we haul for you, we sort the donatable pieces out and run them to a charity when we can. We recycle metal and cardboard too, rather than dumping it. You don’t load a thing or make a second trip.

What’s the nearest landfill if you want to self-haul?

Laguna Niguel is in south Orange County, so your closest county facility for household self-haul is the Prima Deshecha Landfill at 32250 Avenida La Pata in San Juan Capistrano. It’s open to OC residents Monday through Saturday — general household loads run roughly 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. You’ll pay a dump fee by weight, and you need a truck or trailer, tie-downs, and the muscle to unload yourself. The Bowerman landfill in Irvine is closer but commercial-only, so it won’t take a home pickup load.

Self-haul makes sense for a light run you can lift alone. Once you add the dump fee, the gas down La Pata, and your Saturday, a single-item pickup from us often costs about the same — and you never touch it. If the load includes anything the landfill won’t accept, that’s a second stop somewhere else. We handle that sorting for you.

When does it make sense to call us instead of the city?

Use CR&R’s two free bulky pickups when you’ve got a couple of items and no rush. Call us when:

  • You’ve got more than two pickups’ worth in a year, or a full garage clean-out.
  • The item’s heavy or awkward — a sectional, a hot tub cover, a water heater, a fridge from an upstairs unit. That’s our furniture removal and appliance removal work.
  • It’s remodel or renovation debris the city program won’t take.
  • You’re on a deadline — a sale, a move, an estate — or you’re behind a guard gate and can’t leave a pile at the curb for days.

We do the lifting, the loading, and the disposal. You point, we clear. If the free city pickup covers your job, use it. When it doesn’t, we’re a call away.
