Junk Removal in Huntington Beach, CA: 2026 Local Guide

Alex Alquisira · · 7 min read

Junk removal in Huntington Beach runs about $75–$175 for a single item like a mattress or a fridge, and up to $500–$700 for a full truckload on a garage or estate cleanout. We’re EA Junk Removal — a family business Eric and I have run since 2018, working all over Orange County. Surf City keeps us busy year-round, from Downtown rentals to the waterfront homes in the Harbour. This guide covers what a haul really costs here, how the city’s free bulky-item program works, where your junk ends up, and the neighborhoods we know best. Straight answers, no upsell.

What does junk removal cost in Huntington Beach?

We price by volume — the space your stuff takes in the truck — not by the hour. You get a firm number before we touch anything, so there’s nothing to argue about at the end. Here’s the range across HB:

Job size What it usually is Price range
Single item One couch, mattress, fridge, or desk $75–$175
Quarter truck Small closet or a few pieces of furniture $200–$300
Half truck One-car garage or a room’s worth $300–$450
Full truck Two-car garage, estate, or full cleanout $500–$700

Same published ranges we run county-wide — the full list lives on our Orange County price index. Your number depends on volume, weight, and access — and in HB, access matters more than most places. A carry-down from a third-floor Downtown walk-up or a dock-side load in Huntington Harbour takes more work than a curbside grab, and we’ll factor that into the quote up front. Every estimate is free and on-site. Don’t like the price? We leave, no charge.

What is Huntington Beach’s free bulky-item pickup program?

The city gives residents a free option, and you should use it when it fits. Through Republic Services, Huntington Beach offers a bulky-item pickup program with up to four collections a year and as many as ten items per pickup — furniture, appliances, mattresses, and bagged trash. You call Republic Services at (714) 847-3581 with at least 48 hours’ notice, and a special truck grabs it on your regular collection day.

Two things to know. First, TVs, pallets, and construction or remodel debris aren’t eligible — so a bathroom demo or an old flat-screen is on you. Second, and this is the big one: the city crew takes items from the curb. You still have to haul everything out of the house, out of the garage, and to the street yourself. For a heavy sleeper sofa or a garage full of boxes, that’s the entire job. That’s where we earn our keep — we do the lifting the city won’t.

Which Huntington Beach neighborhoods do we work in most?

HB is really several cities in one — beach rentals, waterfront estates, and inland tract homes — and the jobs shift with the zip code. Where we spend the most time:

  • Downtown HB (near Main Street and PCH) — dense with rentals and vacation units. Turnover is constant, so move-out and apartment cleanouts dominate: mattresses, cheap furniture, and whatever the last renter walked away from.
  • Huntington Harbour — the waterfront neighborhoods off Warner. Bigger homes, bigger garages, bigger stuff. We handle furniture removal, full garage cleanouts, and the occasional dock or patio haul-out here.
  • Southeast HB and the tracts near Adams and Brookhurst — established single-family neighborhoods where garages fill up over the years. Garage and yard-debris cleanouts are the bread and butter.
  • Seacliff and Goldenwest — older, larger homes where longtime owners downsize or sell. Estate and attic cleanouts come up regularly.

Not on the list? We still cover it. All of Huntington Beach is on our route — these are just the pockets we’re in most weeks.

Where does Huntington Beach junk actually go?

We sort every load three ways — donate, recycle, dispose — instead of dumping it all in one hole.

The nearest big county facility is the Frank R. Bowerman Landfill in Irvine, but it’s commercial-only — residents can’t self-haul there. If you want to make the trip yourself, the closest public drop-off is the Olinda Alpha Landfill in Brea; confirm hours and accepted materials at oclandfills.com. For most HB residents, a weekend hauling a trailer up the 57 isn’t worth it — that’s the trip we take for you.

For anything still usable, Goodwill of Orange County has donation centers right in town, including the store at 9079 Adams Avenue and the OC Goodwill Boutique on Beach Boulevard, both of which take gently used furniture and household goods behind the store. When we pull a solid couch or a working dresser out of a cleanout, that’s often where it lands. Tell us to separate donations and we will — no extra charge, and it keeps good stuff in the community instead of the dump.

What can we haul that the city won’t?

The free program covers ten curbside items a few times a year. We cover everything it excludes — and the heavy lifting it doesn’t do at all:

  • Furniture removal — sectionals, sleepers, armoires, and the pieces too heavy to drag to the curb yourself.
  • Garage cleanouts — one of our top HB jobs. We empty it, sweep it, and hand you back a garage you can actually use.
  • Appliance removal — fridges, washers, dryers, and water heaters, disconnected and out without dinging your floors.
  • TVs and electronics, remodel and construction debris, estate and full-home cleanouts, and rental turnovers on a tight timeline — all the stuff the city program leaves for you to deal with.

How does our Huntington Beach junk removal work?

Four steps, no games:

  • Call or text (949) 565-2609 — or request a quote online. Tell us what you’ve got and roughly how much. Photos help — text them over.
  • Get a free estimate. Small jobs we can price by phone. Bigger cleanouts, we come look and give you a firm number on the spot.
  • We show up and do the work. You point, we carry. Anything you want to keep, just tell us — we won’t touch it.
  • We clean up. Area swept before we leave. Donations go to donation, recyclables get recycled, the rest goes to licensed disposal — never dumped.

Most HB jobs run 30 minutes to two hours. Full estates take longer, and we’ll give you a time window up front so it doesn’t eat your whole day.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can you get to my Huntington Beach address?

We’re local to OC, so same-day or next-day is the norm. On a deadline for a move-out or a sale? Say so and we’ll work to hit it.

Can you get a truck into Downtown or the Harbour?

Yes. We know the tight alleys off Main Street and the dock access in Huntington Harbour. If parking or access is tricky, tell us the address and we’ll plan the approach before we roll up — it’s not our first time on those streets.

Do you charge extra for stairs or a long carry?

No separate stair fee, but a heavy third-floor carry-down or a long haul from a back unit can affect the price. We tell you before we start — no surprises on the bill.

What don’t you take?

No hazardous materials — paint, motor oil, chemicals, or car batteries. Those go to a county household hazardous waste center for free. Everything else is fair game.

Do you work with landlords and property managers?

All the time. Downtown HB turns over constantly, and we handle a lot of between-tenant cleanouts — abandoned furniture, mattresses, and the trash a departing renter leaves behind. Give us access and a photo or two and we can often clear a unit the same day, so it’s ready to show without you touching a thing. We’ll send you finished photos and an itemized invoice for your records.

Ready to clear it out?

One mattress off PCH or a full garage in the Harbour — we’ll give you a fair price and haul it the same week. See what we cover on our Huntington Beach junk removal page, or reach out and text a photo. Call or text (949) 565-2609 and we’ll handle the rest.
