Junk Removal in Cypress, CA: Costs & Local Guide
Eric and I have been clearing junk out of Cypress homes since 2018, and the question every caller leads with is cost. Straight answer: most Cypress jobs run from $75 for a single item up to $500–$700 for a full truck, and you get the exact bracket before we touch anything. We are a family shop, not a franchise, so there are no surprise fees at the curb. Below is the same rundown we give neighbors — the city bulky program, the nearest dump, where to donate. You can also start on our Cypress junk removal page.
How much does junk removal cost in Cypress?
Cypress pricing works on volume. You pay for the share of the truck your load takes up — not by the hour, not by a running meter. Here is the reference we quote from:
| Load size | What it usually looks like | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single item / minimum | One couch, a mattress, a washer, an old desk | $75–$175 |
| Quarter truck | A few pieces of furniture, some boxes, a chair or two | $200–$300 |
| Half truck | A bedroom set, or half a garage cleared out | $300–$450 |
| Full truck | A packed garage, a full apartment clear-out, an estate room | $500–$700 |
The only thing that moves the number is heavy debris — concrete, dirt, tile, roofing, or a load of old lumber — because the landfill charges us by weight on that. If that is your load, say so on the call and it goes into the flat quote up front. The full breakdown is on our Orange County junk removal cost page.
Does Cypress pick up bulky items for free?
Yes, but Cypress runs one of the leaner programs in the county, so know the limit before you plan around it. Cypress residents get a small number of free bulky-item pickups per calendar year — the city has posted two items per year — and the collection is handled by Valley Vista Services, not the regular trash hauler. You schedule it by calling Valley Vista at (714) 380-5450, and your items need to be at the curb by 6:00 AM on the pickup date. Confirm the current allowance on the City of Cypress bulky items page, since the city sets the cap and it can change.
Two free items a year does not go far. That is the honest limit of the program — it is fine for one couch you can drag to the curb, and it runs out fast on a real clean-out. The crew also will not enter a garage, climb stairs, or take construction debris. When the pile is bigger than the allowance, or you need it gone this week, that is where we come in.
Which Cypress neighborhoods do we work in most?
Cypress is mostly a postwar suburb, and the housing stock shapes the junk we haul. A few patterns:
- The older single-story tracts near the Los Alamitos border — classic 1950s and 1960s ranch homes with smaller garages, so we pull a lot of dated appliances, remodel debris, and garages that filled up over decades.
- Homes near Cypress College — a mix of long-held family homes and rentals, which means turnover loads: furniture left behind, mattresses, and move-out clean-outs.
- The Sorrento and newer gated pockets — larger, later-built homes where the calls skew toward furniture upgrades, playroom purges, and moving-day hauls.
- The streets backing up to Los Alamitos Race Course and the JFTB — established neighborhoods where estate and downsizing work comes up as longtime owners move on.
None of it changes how we work. We come to you, quote it where it sits, and carry it out ourselves. You never have to move anything to the curb first. A tight 1960s garage and a newer three-car both come down to the same thing on the day: a crew willing to get into the space, take the stairs, and clear it out in one trip. With only two free city items a year, that is usually why the phone rings — the pile is well past what the curbside program covers.
Where can you donate or drop off junk in Cypress yourself?
If a piece still has life left, donate it before you toss it — we do the same on the pieces worth saving. Two reliable options for Cypress:
- Goodwill of Orange County — the closest stores to Cypress are in the surrounding cities, and they take furniture, housewares, and clothing at drop-off during store hours. Locations are on the Goodwill OC donation page.
- Habitat for Humanity of Orange County ReStore — takes furniture, appliances, and building materials to fund local home builds. Email photos to donationhotline@ReStoreOC.org first so they can confirm the item, then schedule a free pickup at (714) 434-6202. See the Habitat OC donation page.
Call ahead before you load the car. Both places pass on stained, broken, or damaged items, and a rejected donation just means a second trip. If a piece will not pass, hauling it is the cleaner call, and we will sort the donatable from the dump-bound so you do not have to.
What is the nearest landfill if you want to self-haul?
Cypress is in north Orange County, so your public self-haul site is the Olinda Alpha Landfill in Brea, at 1942 N Valencia Ave. It is open to county residents Monday through Saturday, about 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. OC Waste & Recycling has posted a flat $5 for a small vehicle at or under 360 pounds, a flat $20 for a pickup or larger under 880 pounds, and a per-ton rate above that — but verify the current fees on the Olinda Alpha Landfill page, since they change. Note it is a bit of a drive from Cypress across north county, so factor the round trip.
Self-haul makes sense with a truck, a light load, and a free morning. It stops making sense fast when the load is heavy, you do not own a truck, or the drive across the county eats your day. You still have to load it yourself, drive it up, unload at the gate, and return the truck. Once you add up a rental, straps, gas, and the gate fee, a quarter-truck haul is often the cheaper answer — and it costs you no part of your day. That is why plenty of Cypress calls start with someone who did that math first and decided against the round trip.
When should you call us instead of the city?
Use the city program for one or two curbside items with no deadline. Call us when the job outgrows that. The usual ones:
- A garage or storage space that has not been cleared in years — that is our garage cleanout service.
- Furniture that has to come out of a bedroom, an upstairs room, or a back patio — our furniture removal service.
- A dead fridge, washer, dryer, or water heater — heavy and awkward, handled by our appliance removal service.
The line is simple. The city takes what you drag to the curb on its calendar, capped at two items a year. We do the lifting, we work on your schedule, and we take the loads the city will not. One flat price, one crew, one trip — and the garage is empty when we leave.
How do you book EA Junk Removal in Cypress?
It is a phone call. Reach Eric and me at (949) 565-2609, tell us what you have and where it is, and we quote the bracket on the spot. A photo helps — a quick shot of the pile or the garage gets you a tighter number. You can also start on our contact page, and there is more local detail on our Cypress junk removal page. Family-run, on time, and priced before we lift a thing.
